2021 Colour Trends To Watch Out For
With the New Year on the horizon, we’re watching out for all the new trends to come in. One of our favourite ways to forecast all the newest trends is seeing what colours are hitting design trends. While we wait for iconic design companies like Pantone to announce the colour of the year, here’s our prediction for what colours we’ll be seeing in 2021.
We’re beginning to see this trend trickle through into 2020, but we have a sneaky feeling green tones may be the next colours everyone falls in love with. We know houseplants have been the millennial decoration of choice for some years so it’s no surprise greens have made a dramatic appearance in 2020 that’s sure to continue into 2020.
Don’t know where to start with this gorgeous hue? Adding plants (both real and artificial) can provide a hint of this colour. If you’re feeling bolder, adding green textiles to your space can give a calming and serene colour palette. With the Aiden Chairs in Olive Green, the Alexander & James Hoxton collection and our range of Artificial Plants, we reckon you’ll find the perfect pop of green that’s perfect for welcoming in next seasons new trends.
Since the mid-2010s, we’ve been seeing the rise of baby pink and now it’s firmly in one of our favourite shades. Whether you were ahead of the curve and have loved it before the concept of millennial pink or you’ve only just been brave enough to try it out, we think these pale blush tones aren’t going anywhere!
In 2016, rose quartz was named Pantone’s Colour of the Year and ever since, it’s elevated baby pink into one of design’s trendiest colours. What’s great about pastel shades like baby pink, is that it’s easy to match them to both warm and cool tones. If you’re looking for warm tones, find pick shades that lean towards peachy shades with red, orange and yellow undertones. For cooler undertones, find pinks that look like pale shades of bubblegum that will contrast nicely with navy and greys.
2020 saw the rise of spicy warm tones and we don’t see it stopping anytime soon. Think cinnamon, rusts, mustard and turmeric yellows that when paired together create a deep rich colour scheme that feels incredibly retro and vintage.
Pair with warm-toned woods to complement these vibrant shades. We’ve picked out The Metro collection and the Westminster Sideboard as they pair perfectly with warm, spicy tones and add a retro inspired feel to any home. We’ve also featured the Milo rug in Rust. A firm Autumn favourite, we think this colour will pop up in other seasons across the next year.
What do you think will be the stand out colours for 2021? We’d love to see what our customers are loving and hoping to see in 2021.
