Seven sizzling hot interior design styles to look out for

At family-owned FW Homestores we offer everything you need to make your house a home – and this means not just the furniture but all the accessories too.

Focusing on high-quality, stylish design at an affordable price, we can help you put together looks that are not only comfortable and inviting but also of the moment.

Whether you are looking for a new bed, sofabed, coffee table, dining table or wardrobe, we help you to find pieces to transform your home that will also work with your existing furniture.

This summer, for example, we have seen many people lifting their grey colour schemes by bringing in a splash of colour.

Exquisite sofas and chairs in gorgeous blush pinks, navy blues or mustards (as in our Victoria James Designs Orson Sofa Collection, from £299) have been the must-have shades of summer 2020.

Here are seven other sensational 2020 and 2021 trends to look out for:

1. Earthy tones

As we begin to welcome autumn, we’ll also be turning to a fresh palette. Look out for rich, earthy tones, such as burnt orange and olive green, as well as neutral hues, including chocolate brown as we prepare to hunker down for winter. See our Victoria James Designs Marylebone Accent Chair (£299) for a perfect example.

2. Eclectic glamour

One of our favourite current trends is “eclectic glamour.” Our Victoria James Chelsea Sofa Collection (from £699) shows how to add a little opulence and luxury to your home. Spoil yourselves with glorious velvets, thick rugs and the odd gold and glass accessory here and there.

3. Soft tropics

It is safe to say that house plants are currently all the rage, hence the growth in tropical botanical prints within British homes. Making up for the lack of sun we’ve experienced this summer, this green dream achieves an exciting, exotic look featuring the likes of leafy palm prints, stylish gold and velvet accessories and rich dark wood furniture. With a rich teal velvet and botanical accent cushions, our Rio Sofa Collection (from £399) and Marilyn Dining Collection (from £179) fit this trend perfectly.

4. Natural schemes

Returning to a more neutral look, “natural schemes” presents soft tones and a variety of textures and natural fabrics. Although this trend involves a stripped-down colour palette, the pieces can still be indulging and lavish. Our Hampstead collection by Victoria James Designs (Victoria James Hampstead Sofa Collection, from £349) demonstrates this look with a combination of soft neutral linen and classic design features.

5. Bold bedrooms

As we move into autumn and winter, beautiful, bold bedrooms will also be a look to keep an eye on. Remember, you can still retain a calm, inviting ambience in your bedroom while being more daring with your decor. Try choosing a statement bed frame in a strong colour to bring a splash of vibrancy to your bedroom. Our Vista bed by Exclusive Bed Frames (from £299) does just that with its stunning bright blue velvet frame.

6. Cosy and safe

At the same time, many of us will be looking for both comfort and joy as autumn and winter appear on the horizon. Creating a cosy, safe haven in which to simply relax and enjoy time at home might be especially important to us this year. Bringing sumptuous fabrics and luxurious accessories into our family-friendly modern living rooms and bedrooms could be the ideal way of achieving this. Epitomising this trend, our Cloud modular corner sofa (from £999) is designed with comfort and space in mind and is perfect for big families seeking an inviting, communal spot in which to relax.

7. Eco-conscious

All of us are now so much more focused on protecting the world around us and are looking for more sustainability within our homes. As such, beautiful and eco-conscious looks are dominating. At FW Homestores we have seen high demand for our reclaimed wood collections. These are not only popular for their unique and raw natural beauty, but also their eco-friendly qualities. See our Blake Reclaimed Wood Dining Collection, for example (from £119).
